Blacklist and whitelist
Block IPs, ranges, devices, or countries across every product, with exceptions.
How it works#
The blacklist and whitelist belong to your organization, so every product enforces them. Every runtime call is checked. A blocked app gets blacklisted with the message “Access from this device or network has been blocked.”
| Entry | Example | Blacklist | Whitelist |
|---|---|---|---|
| IP address | 203.0.113.7 | ✓ | ✓ |
| IP range (CIDR) | 203.0.113.0/24 | ✓ | ✓ |
| Device ID | dev_0f513efb… | ✓ | ✓ |
| Country | US | ✓ | – |
A whitelist match always wins, so you can block a range or a country but let one office or tester through. Changes apply within 30 seconds.
Countries#
Country rules need your host to tell Atlas where requests come from. Cloudflare (including Cloudflare Tunnel), Vercel, and CloudFront do this automatically. Without one, country rules never match.
Banning a license#
Ban on a license's page suspends it, disables its account, and blacklists every device it was activated on, so a new key won't work on those machines either. To undo it, reinstate the license and remove the devices from the blacklist.
Checking from your app#
if atlas.is_blacklisted():
exit("This device can't use the app.")
